If you are in Canada, here are some places you can order Algebra Tiles:
(If you are in the US – see below.)
Unless you live in Vancouver, there may be little chance of a close-by “teacher store”. It’s ok – ordering online is probably your best bet.
I have included the pricing at the time I did the research (Sept 2016). Hopefully the links will still work for you when you try them.

This kit is more complex – I started with the first kind (see above), and I do use these more complex ones sometimes, but it may not be the best for students (or teachers) who are first using. You can do both x^2 and y^2 and even xy… This kit is $155.95 CAD but only includes 15 sets – so students would work in pairs (which mine do anyways). https://spectrum-nasco.ca/product.htm?Product=203314&Source=Search
You can order individual sets of these from Pearson Canada for $4.50 CAD per student kit:

- I like this kit because the pieces are less complex – it’s a great beginner set and has 30 student kits included. You can actually share this with a colleague because each classroom usually only needs a set of 15 – students can work well in pairs. $187.99 CAD https://store.schoolspecialty.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?minisite=10224&item=469258
- This is the same class set but a little bit cheaper: Non-Member: $179.99 CAD Member Price: $161.99 CAD http://www.scholarschoice.ca/algebra-tiles-class-set.html
- Same kit again for even cheaper: $150.23 CAD; but it might take longer to get to you because I think it ships from the UK (???) https://www.amazon.ca/Learning-Resources-Algebra-Tile-Class/dp/B000F8R5NW
